We have been informed that 'Associate' member Phil Medland 'crossed the bar' on the 4th April 2016 at his home in Bideford, Devon following a massive stroke, he was aged 78.

I knew Phil well as we both served as Chief PRI's at Dryad during the 70's and he was one of the well deserved early promotions to the newly created rate of FCPO. He was a true professional and ensured that his high standards were met by all his trainee's.
Phil joined the RN in 1953 as a boy seaman at HMS St Vincent and went on to serve in HM Ship's Veryan Bay, Harrier, Carron, Bermuda, Dryad, Victorious, Rothesay, Bacchante and on the staffs of F.O.F.1. and C-in-C Fleet. He retired from the RN in 1979.
I spoke to him recently and he was hoping to attend our 2016 reunion at Bristol, but sadly it was not to be.

His funeral will take place at Barnstaple crematorium on Friday 22nd April at 13:40
Donations to RNLI or British Legion.

RIP Phil, it was a pleasure to have known you.
