It is with much sadness that I inform you that our "Honorary member" Charles Desmond TYLER crossed the bar' on the 8th September 2017. Charles who came from Port Talbot served onboard Lowestoft between 1943 and 1944 during WWII. He was an AB (HSD) which was the forerunner of the Sonar Branch and took part in Operations Alacrity and Torch also serving in West Africa convoy protection. As well as Lowestoft he served on HMS Geranium, HMS Dornoch and HMS Belfast between 1942 and 1946.
Charles' son Allan contacted the Association in 2014 and we were proud to have him as an "Honorary member" and he was very moved to belong to the Association and receive his certificate.
We had hoped to have him at our 2014 reunion at Southsea when we could all have had a chat with him but unfortunately his health was not good enough so it was not to be.
He was one of the last of our WWII "Lowies" and it was a pleasure to make contact with him.
RIP Charles....may you find a safe anchorage.
