It is with much sadness that I inform you that Vice Admiral Sir John Webster KCB 'crossed the bar' on the 5th of October 2020, aged 87.
Sir John was my first sea-going DO when he was a Lieutenant, Navigating Officer on Lowie's first commission and I enjoyed very much having him as my 'boss', he gave me lots of good advice which helped me throughout my RN career.
His first command was HMS Argonaut in 1970 and then Captain F4 in HMS Cleopatra in 1977. He was Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) in 1982, COS to Cincfleet in 1984 and finally FO Plymouth in 1987, retiring in 1990.
In retirement he became a landscape and marine painter.
He very much enjoyed attending our 2014 reunion at Southsea.
RIP Sir
