We have been informed that Lt Cdr Peter James Ternouth Woods MBE 'crossed the bar' on the 7th July 1998 aged 75.
Peter was the first MEO of Lowestoft having joined her whilst building at Alex Stephens yard in Glasgow, he was present with his family at the ship's launch on the 23 June 1960.
He continued his service onboard to complete the ship's first commission and was a highly respected officer who always had a friendly acknowledgement for everyone he came in contact with irrespective of which department they worked in.

Although not in his department, I spent time with this gentleman in Stephens yard, and on the first commission, there are very few real gentlemen in this world but he was one of them.
